If you haven’t ordered Seth Godin’s Meatball Sundae yet, then order it now! In fact, you may want to order two. Your boss needs one as well. Here’s what I liked:
The title. The message of title sticks. It gives a mental picture and at least for me it affects my salivary glands to think about trying to stomach a meatball sundae. The title is also useful language when talking with others about social media strategies. I can tell you how many times I’ve said meatball sundae since I bought the book.
The message. The message in Seth’s book is right on, and it’s applicable. As I’ve spoken with different businesses I’ve often felt a disconnect between the product and the desire to market through social media. Something in me wanted to make meatball sundaes even though no one would like the taste. I feel free from that need now. Meatballs are fine. Sundaes are great. Mixed together…it sucks. Marketing has changed. Seth identifies how it has changed.
The voice. I felt like Seth was sitting at the coffee shop talking to me. His conversational tone makes the message engaging to the point that when I felt the need to ask a question I would just back up and reread the paragraph.
The book is worth the investment of the money and the time it takes to read it. Yours should be arriving soon, so after you read, meet me here and post your comments. Let’s talk!
